Description
48, 49, and 50 High Street are a terrace of three houses built in the early to mid 19th century, with some minor alterations from the late 19th century. The front walls are solidly rendered, while the left side wall of No 48 is also rendered. The top of the right side wall of No 50 is made of exposed stone rubble, and the top of the left side wall of No 50 is covered with large slates due to the roof's height. The houses have slate roofs, with a hipped roof at the left end of No 48, featuring perforated red crested ridge-tiles. Nos 48 and 49 each have brick chimneys at the rear, with round red pots visible behind the ridge.
These two-storey houses have varying window arrangements: No 48 has three windows with a doorway replacing the middle ground-storey window; No 49 has a similar layout but lacks a middle window on the second storey; No 50 features one window in each storey with a doorway to the left. The doors include a four-panelled door at No 48 and No 50, while No 49 has a six-panelled door with a moulded architrave, where the two lowest panels are flush. Nos 49 and 50 also have old knockers. The windows are sashes set in recessed box-frames, with six panes in most, except for the two-paned second-storey windows at No 48, which have horns, as do the sashes in both windows at No 50.
Although the interiors were not inspected, No 48 features a half-glazed inner front door with glazing bars, where the margin panes contain coloured glass and the middle panes are decorated, possibly with patterned paper or engraving, along with a solid moulded lower panel.
