Description
Milton Mill Cottage is a small house dating from around the mid 17th century, with 19th-century additions. The building features exposed stone walls up to the first floor, with rendered cob above, and has a gable-ended slate roof supported by two brick gable-end stacks. The layout consists of two heated rooms, with the original left-hand room likely being the larger one, now divided by a staircase and entrance lobby. There are 19th-century lean-tos at each end, with the right-hand one currently used as a garage.
The exterior is two storeys high and has an asymmetrical front with four windows, featuring 20th-century casements of one, two, and three lights. A plank door from the early 20th century is positioned to the left of centre, sheltered by a single slate door hood. Inside, the left-hand fireplace has a chamfered wooden lintel with straight-cut stops, while the right-hand fireplace features a roughly chamfered wooden lintel and a cloam oven. The feet of rough straight principals can be seen on the first floor.
