Description
The Vicarage is a building with late 18th century origins in its rear block, while the front block, which faces the garden, was constructed in 1844 for the Reverend Samuel Buckland. The structure features rendered walls and brick and rendered stacks beneath a Welsh slate roof with projecting eaves at the front. It has an L-plan layout with a rear left wing and stands two storeys tall. The garden front has a 1:2-window arrangement with a projecting left-hand gable. On the ground floor, there are 6/9-pane sash windows to the right of the porch, which is framed by pilasters and includes a panelled door with an overlight and flanking narrow lights. A plain balustrade with wrought-ironwork fronts the porch. Above the porch, there is a 6/9-pane sash, and to the right, a 6/6-pane sash. The left-hand gable features a small 4-pane casement at the apex, a 6/6-pane sash on the first floor, and a canted bay with a slate roof and similar sashes. The other elevations and the rear wing also have similar 6/6-pane sashes. Inside, the property is noted for its mid-19th century joinery, an open-well staircase with stick balusters, enriched and moulded cornicing, and classical fireplaces made of wood and marble. The rear wing retains some 18th century panelled doors.
