Description

Lloyds Bank is an early to mid-19th century bank building, with alterations, and banking deeds dating from 1846. The building was designed by Fox Fowler and used until 1922. It is three storeys high and has three windows, rendered in painted stucco. A horizontal band sits beneath the windows on the upper floor, and there is a bracketed cornice. Flank pilasters are present on the west side, and a rounded corner on the east, where the entrance is located. The two windows on the east side are flush-frame sash windows with glazing bars and moulded architraves. The left-hand window is a three-light sash window with altered glazing bars. A single three-light window on the west return has glazing bars and a simple frame. The ground floor windows and entrances have been updated more recently. The building forms a group with numbers 2, 4 and 8 on the South Side, and numbers 7, 13 and 15 on the North Side.
