Description
Reeds Cottage is a house dating from the early 19th century, with some alterations and an addition made in the late 20th century. The exterior is rendered, likely over stone rubble or cob, and features a gable-ended roof covered with scantle slate and a brick chimney stack. The layout consists of a two-room central-entrance plan, with a larger principal room on the left that has an external end stack, and a smaller unheated room on the right. The entrance passage includes a staircase at the rear, although the wall separating the passage from the left-hand room was removed in the late 20th century. The front of the house has an irregularly spaced three-bay design, with early 19th-century glazing bar sash windows, each with three panes by two panes, and beaded boxes. There is a roughly central late 20th-century half-glazed four-panelled door, which may have replaced a similar door from the 19th century. Inside, there is a 19th-century four-panelled door between the former entrance passage and the right-hand ground-floor room. The first-floor rooms and roof space have not been inspected.
