Description

The Globe Inn is a house that has been converted into an inn, dating from the early to mid 19th century, with some alterations made in the late 20th century. It may have been a remodelling of an earlier house. The building is constructed of snecked dressed stone and features a gable-ended roof covered with modern asbestos slate. There are red brick stacks at both ends and a lateral stack at the rear of the central room.

The layout suggests it may have originally been a three-room plan with a cross or through passage, with the lower end to the right. The current configuration retains this three-room plan, with end stacks, including an external stack on the left side and a lateral stack at the rear of the central room. The entrance is located in the right-hand room, and the internal division between the central and right-hand rooms was removed in the 20th century. The building has two storeys.

The exterior features an asymmetrical four-bay front with late 20th-century sixteen-pane glazing bar sash windows, which likely mimic the style of early to mid-19th-century originals. These windows have rendered architraves and lintels. The doorway, situated in the second bay from the right, has a modern half-glazed door with a rendered architrave and lintel. The interior has not been inspected.
