Description

Ye Olde Boote Inn is a house that has been converted into an inn. It was built in the late 18th century and extended in the mid-19th century, with further additions and alterations made later. The building is constructed of red brick and has a slate roof. It features two storeys with a dentilled eaves cornice. The original four-bay front was extended by one bay to the left during the mid-19th century. The original part has mid-20th century casements with 18th century segmental heads, while the addition has 20th century casements, including a ground floor window with a wide 20th century segmental head. The entrance is located in the third bay from the left of the original part, featuring a 20th century boarded door under a late 19th century bracketed gabled hood. There is an external end stack in front of the ridge on the right and a ridge stack, which was formerly at the gable end, at the junction with the 19th century addition. At the rear, there is an 18th century wide gabled range at right angles to the left and a mid-19th century two-storey addition at right angles to the right. Inside, the right ground-floor room has a chamfered cross beam and heavy joists. Late 20th century additions set back to the left and attached to the rear are not of special architectural interest.
