Description

Wheelwright's Cottage is a small house dating from around the late 17th or early 18th century, with alterations made in the 20th century. The walls are rendered cob, and the roof is thatched, gabled to the right-hand end and hipped to the left. A brick stack is located at the right gable. The original layout is unclear due to later changes but likely comprised two or three rooms, with a larger heated room at the right-hand end. The front facade is asymmetrical, with a single window above and three below. A late 19th-century four-pane sash window is located to the left of centre on the first floor. The ground floor features 20th-century one-light casements to the left of centre and to the right, along with a 20th-century former shop window on the left. A small 20th-century lean-to porch with a plank door is situated in front of the left-hand end, while a 20th-century thatched porch with a late 20th-century part-glazed door sits to the right of centre. The interior was inaccessible at the time of survey.
