Description
Fortescue's Ash is a farmhouse, now a house, dating from 1681, with alterations made around 1980. The building is constructed of coursed slatestone rubble, with colourwashed render over a cob first floor. It features a gabled slate roof that is hipped at the front of the left wing. The right end has a large 17th-century stone stack with drip courses, which is finished in colourwashed 19th-century brick, along with a similar ridge stack and end stack on the front of the left wing. The structure is L-shaped and has two storeys with a two-window range. There are flat rendered arches over a 20th-century door next to the left wing and 20th-century casement windows. Although an interior inspection was not possible, it is likely to be of interest.
