Description
Chipley Mill House is a house that was formerly a mill house. The front of the building appears to be from the 19th century, but it may be older, with later additions at the rear. It is constructed of stone rubble and is rendered at the front, featuring a slated roof that is hipped on the left side. The house has two storeys and a five-window front, with 20th-century wood casement windows that have a vaguely Tudor style. There is a blocked, round-arched doorway in the second bay from the right. On the rear wall, at the right-hand end, there are two large projecting chimneystacks, with a projection between them that is likely a stair turret. The interior has not been inspected. The house and the mill together form a good group. Neither the house nor the mill is shown on the 2-inch Ordnance Survey map from 1803-1804, according to information from Mr. L. Keefe of Teignbridge District Council.
