Description
This description is for a pair of gate piers located at the east entrance to Ingsdon School, along with the flanking walls. The gate piers date from the early 19th century and are constructed from granite. The gate piers and the piers at the ends of the flanking walls are made of ashlar, while the walls themselves are built from rubble. The gate piers are tall and have a square section, featuring rusticated masonry with shaped caps topped by small finials. The flanking walls have dressed copings that are slightly rounded on top and end in short square section piers with shaped tops. Ingsdon School, which has suffered a fire, is not listed.
