Description
The churchyard walls and gate piers surrounding the Church of St Mary Abbotsbury were built in 1906 by E.H. Sedding. They are constructed from Devon limestone rubble and freestone ashlar, featuring a rectangular plan. The walls have a chamfered plinth that once supported railings, which is highlighted by gabled piers. The front piers are larger and consist of paired pedestrian entrances on either side of a carriage entrance. These piers have plinths and larger blocks at the top, which are coved at the base and gabled on all four sides, over recessed trefoil-headed panels.
