Description
Deerbridge Mill is a water mill dating from the early 19th century. It is constructed of dressed slate rubble and has a bituminised slate roof with gabled ends. The building has a rectangular, almost square plan, featuring an overshot water wheel on the left side and an integral miller's house on the right side.
The mill stands three storeys high and has an asymmetrical two-window west front. The ground floor has a window at the center, with two loading doors on the first floor and another window at the center of the second floor. All these openings have 20th-century casements, timber lintels, and hood moulds. To the right, there are external stone steps leading to a wide ground floor doorway, which has a timber lintel, a 20th-century plank door, and a slated canopy. On the left side, there are two 20th-century casements and a large overshot water wheel with restored wooden buckets.
In front of the mill, there is a Victorian cast iron pump and a slate trough. The interior has not been inspected, but it appears to contain original wooden machinery.
