Description

The piggery located to the north-north-east of Start Point Lighthouse dates from around 1836 and is likely the work of James Walker, the engineer responsible for the lighthouse. It is constructed of stone rubble with a slate roof and slate coped gable ends. The building has a long, narrow rectangular plan and is built into the hillside above the cliff, situated below the lighthouse. It is a single-storey structure with a blind south wall facing the hillside and openings on the north side that overlook the sea. The interior has not been inspected.
