Description
Bickerton Cottage is a cottage that likely dates from the 18th century and was extended in the 21st century. It is constructed from painted and rendered stone rubble, possibly with cob, and features a thatched roof with a gabled right-hand east end and a half-hipped left-hand west end. There is a large stone rubble projecting stack at the right and east end, which has a later rendered shaft. The cottage has a two-room plan with a central entrance; the room on the lower right is heated by a gable end stack, while the left-hand west room is unheated. At the left-hand west end, there is a later single-storey outbuilding that was converted in the 21st century to extend the accommodation of the house. The exterior is two storeys high with a symmetrical two-window south front, featuring small 20th-century two-light casements with glazing bars and slate sills. The central doorway has a 20th-century glazed door and a slated lean-to canopy. To the left, the single-storey extension has a 20th-century glazed door and a two-light casement. The rear elevation was not inspected, and the interior was also not inspected.
