Description
Linhays is a pair of cottages that have been converted into one house, likely built in the early 19th century and later extended in the 20th century. The building is constructed of painted stone rubble and features a thatched roof, which has a hipped right-hand east end and a gabled left end that adjoins another house. There is a stack at the right-hand end with a rendered shaft.
The original plan consisted of two attached cottages with central entrances, each having one front room and probably small rear service rooms. In the conversion, the left-hand doorway has been blocked, and a single-storey extension has been added to the rear right-hand corner.
The exterior is two storeys high with an asymmetrical three-window front. On the ground floor, there are three 19th-century two-light horizontally sliding sash windows with glazing casements and glazing bars. The doorway is located to the left of centre and features a 20th-century plank door with a 20th-century canopy. There is a small 19th-century two-light casement window with glazing bars at the right end, alongside the 20th-century single-storey extension. The rear elevation has not been inspected, and the interior has also not been inspected.
