Description

Jubilee Cottage is a detached cottage located in the centre of Loddiswell, dating from the 17th century or early 18th century. The building is constructed of limewashed or rendered rubble and cob, topped with thatch. The original layout is unclear due to later modifications, but it likely featured a cross-passage with two heated rooms; the external stack on the south gable may have originally been part of an internal fireplace in a former extension or adjacent building.

The cottage has two storeys and a two-window front, with three-light horizontal bar casements on each level and a central stable door beneath a thatched hood. The rear has a deep three-light window above a two-light window and French doors. The left south gable features a stepped external stack made of brick, with a former fireplace at the base that has a segmental arch, and a small square recess above it. Each side of this gable has a two-light casement window on both levels. There is also a gable stack at the right end, while an extension on this side is not of special interest.

Inside, the cottage has undergone significant modifications, including a heavy bressumer above the fireplace in the right room. There is no original staircase, and the roof has not been inspected. The cottage is said to have been rebuilt after a fire.
