Description

The Loddiswell War Memorial is a granite structure located on The Court Ledge, approximately 40 meters west of the Church of St Michael and All Angels, which is also listed at Grade II*. The memorial is designed as a plain obelisk with a square base, rising from a chamfered pedestal. This pedestal is set on a two-stepped granite base, which is elevated on a square concrete platform.

The main dedicatory inscription on the front face of the pedestal states, "IN GLORIOUS MEMORY OF THE MEN OF LODDISWELL WHO FELL IN THE GREAT WAR 1914 – 1918" and includes 18 names. A later inscription on one side of the pedestal reads, "AND TO THOSE WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES DURING THE WAR 1939 – 1945" and includes 10 names.
