Description
The Peasenhall War Memorial is a First World War memorial built in 1921, with later additions for the Second World War. It is made of granite and is located outside the churchyard to the north of the Church of St Michael and All Angels, which is a Grade II* listed building, and near Centre House, Stuart House, and The Church House, all of which are Grade II listed.
The memorial features a plain wheel-head cross atop a tall pedestal with a single-stepped base. It is carved from grey granite and stands approximately 3.3 meters high. The main inscription is in raised lettering on a bronze panel on the south face of the pedestal, reading: "TO THE GLORY OF GOD AND IN HONOURED MEMORY OF THE MEN CONNECTED WITH THIS PARISH WHO FELL IN THE GREAT WAR 1914 – 1918." This panel lists 24 names. Below this, another bronze panel bears two additional names.
On the base of the memorial, there is an additional inscription in raised leaded lettering that reads "1939 1945," along with five names.
