Description
Lotherton Bridge is a road bridge over the River Yealm, dating from the 17th or 18th century, and has been partly rebuilt. It is constructed of stone rubble and features two widely separated spans. The west arch is round, while the east arch is slightly pointed, with both arches having recessed arch rings. On the north, upstream side, there is a large cutwater projection that may be part of the original structure. The parapets have been rebuilt in stone rubble. The river flows through the west arch, while the east arch serves as a flood arch. In 1672, the bridge was reported to be in decay, and by 1809, it had two arches.
