Description
Orchard Farmhouse is a 17th-century farmhouse constructed of stone rubble with a rendered front. It features an asbestos slate roof with gabled ends and stands two storeys tall. The building has a three-window range, with 19th-century three-light casements that include glazing bars, and a 20th-century glazed door located to the left of centre. At the higher right-hand (east) end, there is a large rendered chimney stack, while another large stone rubble chimney stack is situated at the lower end on the rear wall, now enclosed in an outshut. A gabled stair tower is located at the centre of the rear. Inside, the farmhouse has heavy stopped and chamfered ceiling beams and joists at the higher end, with a date of 1766 scratched on the soffit of one beam.
