Description

Swainstone is a farmhouse dating to around the 17th century, with significant alterations made in the 19th and 20th centuries. It is constructed of stone rubble, with a slate roof featuring gabled ends. The roof is higher on one side. The front has four windows, featuring 19th and 20th century casements with glazing bars. Small gables are visible on the first floor. A 20th-century plank door is located centrally, sheltered by a slated hood. A large external rubble chimney stack is on the rear wall, partially rebuilt, and a staircase projection also extends from the rear. Inside, there’s a ceiling with stopped chamfer ceiling beams and joists. The remainder of the interior has been altered.
