Description

Woodland Manor House is a farmhouse that represents the remaining part of a former manor house, dating from the 16th and 17th centuries. It is constructed of stone rubble, with some areas rendered, and features a hipped scantle slate roof that has been partially replaced with asbestos slates. The building has two tall storeys and a long range of five to six windows. Most of the windows are 18th-century sashes with glazing bars set in reduced openings. On the ground floor, there is a two-light hollow-chamfered stone mullion window and another window with a chamfered wooden lintel and part of a moulded wooden frame. A string course runs at floor level. To the left of the center, there is a 20th-century two-storey rendered porch. A large stone chimney stack is located over the front wall to the right, with another external chimney stack at the rear. Inside, the ceilings are very high and feature stopped chamfer beams. The former hall includes a fireplace with a massive chamfered granite lintel. This building appears to be a wing and the only remaining part of a larger house. Woodland Manor was the residence of the Woodlands family, including Sir Walter de Woodland, who served the Black Prince.
