Description
Torpeek Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the late 17th century, which was remodeled in the early 19th century. It is constructed from plastered stone rubble, with a slate-hung gable end on the southwest side. The original layout was likely a three-room plan with a through or cross passage, later altered with rear outshuts and a more regular facade. The building has two rear lateral chimney stacks and one stack at the southwest gable end. It stands two storeys tall and features a three-window range with tripartite sashes that include glazing bars. To the left of the center is a pilastered doorcase with a pediment and a panelled and glazed door. The right end of the building, which was formerly a shippon, is now part of the house and is made of painted stone rubble with sashes and casements. Inside, there is a chamfered ceiling beam in the center room with one straight cut step. Early to mid-19th century stairs have been inserted into the upper end of the hall. The roof trusses feature principals that cross at the apices and have side pegged lapped collars.
