Description
The Almshouses are a row of three cottages that were converted from six almshouses, dating from the 17th or 18th century. They are constructed of slate rubble and feature a slate roof with gabled ends and very deep overhanging eaves at the front. The building is one storey high with an attic and has a total of nine windows. The windows are primarily 18th and 19th century three-light casements with glazing bars. Three of the windows were originally doorways and have been fitted with 20th century casements. There are also three 20th century glazed doors. The structure includes six gabled dormers with roughcast fronts and blind windows, as well as rendered end chimney stacks with weathering. Additionally, there are three chimney stacks on the rear wall above gabled breasts, with 20th century extensions at the back.
