Description

Nos 53A and 55A are mid-19th century flats, originally a single house divided from another. They may represent an example of the ‘parallel house’ type with a courtyard plan, as suggested by M. Laithwaite. The building is three storeys high and has two windows, topped by a Welsh slate roof with a red brick stack. The front is slate-hung timber-framed, featuring a moulded eaves band. The windows are architraved sash windows with glazing bars. Wooden shop fronts are present, with shop windows featuring large panes of glass. A central house doorway contains a rectangular fanlight with marginal lights and a panelled door.
