Description
62 Fore Street is a later 16th century or early 17th century merchant's house that has been altered. It is an example of Pantin's right-angled house type with a broad plan, resembling a small version of "la maison a deux corps de batiments". The front of the building dates from the early 19th century and features two storeys and an attic with one window. It has a Welsh slate roof with an old masonry stack that has red brick patching. The gabled attic includes a moulded bargeboard and a bracketed jetty. The front is timber-framed with a plaster finish, and it has architraved sash windows with glazing bars; the first-floor window has two lights. There is a modern shopfront, and a passage doorway at the west end features an old board and batten door with wrought iron pegs and decorative hinges.
