Description
41 and 43 Clarence Street is a house that has been converted into flats, likely built in the early 19th century with some modern updates from the 20th century. The building features plastered stone rubble and has disused chimney stacks with a slate roof.
The structure is three storeys tall with an attic and has a two-window front. The central doorway is notable for its unusual timber surround, which includes flat pilasters supporting a pediment hood on shaped brackets; it now contains a 20th-century glazed door. The ground and second floors have 12-pane sash windows, while the first floor features tall French windows with margin glazing and replacement iron balconies, with a blind panel between them. A moulded cornice runs along the front eaves, supported by pairs of shaped timber brackets. The roof is hipped, with large flat-roofed dormers on all sides. The rear of the building has entirely 20th-century windows and is five storeys high. The interior has not been inspected but is expected to be of interest.
