Description
A pair of contemporary houses built in the early to mid-18th century, with some 20th-century alterations. The houses are constructed of plastered stone rubble, which is lightly outlined to resemble ashlar, with disused end and ridge stacks and a slate roof. They have a 7-window front, with 3 windows to number 32 and 4 to number 30. The windows are flush-frame sash windows; the ground and first floors have 12-pane sashes, while the second floors have shorter 4/4-pane sashes. Round-headed doorways are located centrally to the right and left. Both doorways are recessed, with 20th-century replacement doors to number 30, and a fielded 6-panel door to number 32. Each doorway has an original spoked fanlight shaped like three radiating teardrops. There are plain eaves to the parallel gable-ended roof; number 32 has 20th-century front dormers.
The ground floor rooms of number 30 have lost their chimneypieces and original moulded plaster cornices, but retain original fielded-panel doors. The entrance passage features a moulded plaster cornice. A large segmental arch leads to the stairwell, which contains an original open-well staircase with slender turned balusters and blocks. The remainder of the interior of both properties was not inspected, but is likely to be of interest.
