Description

Highfield is an early 19th-century villa situated on a prominent site overlooking Totnes. The villa is two storeys high and has three windows on the north front, which was originally the entrance front. It has a hipped roof covered with Welsh slate, featuring projecting bracketed eaves, and rendered stacks. The front elevation is rendered and includes pilaster strips and quoins. The windows are recessed sash windows with glazing bars; the first-floor windows have arched heads incorporating Chinese-style Gothick glazing patterns. Similar windows are found on the east front of a south extension. An arched doorway, now within a modern conservatory, has edge roll mouldings and double doors with patterned half-glazing.
