Description
This is a row of late 18th and early 19th century cottages located on Leechwell Street. The group value of the buildings stems from their historic importance and architectural characteristics. The row comprises numbers 1, 2 (Cosy Cot), 3 and 3A, and 4 (Lamb Corner). They are two storeys high, with two windows each. The roofs are covered in Welsh slate and have original rendered masonry stacks. The frontages of the cottages are rendered. Number 3 and 3A have bracketed eaves, while number 4 has a coved eaves cornice. The windows are recessed sash windows with glazing bars; number 2 features segmental-arched ground floor openings. Recessed doorways have boarded and panelled doors. A later 18th century cottage is located at the rear of number 4 and is now integrated into the main building. This rear cottage has a hipped Welsh slate roof, a rendered stack, recessed sash windows with glazing bars and some timber lintols. A recessed entrance on the east side of the rear cottage has a timber lintol.
