Description

No 1 Leechwell Lane is an earlier to mid-18th century cottage and slaughterhouse that was altered in the early 19th century. It is mentioned in a 1750 deed as a "Dwellinghouse, slaughterhouse, linhay, stables and outhouses." The linhay, which is a combined cattle shelter with a haystore above, along with the outbuildings, were converted into cottages around 1880, which are now Nos 3-5 Leechwell Lane. The building has three storeys and two windows, topped by a hipped Welsh slate roof. The front is rendered, featuring recessed sash windows and Yorkshire sashes with exposed boxing and glazing bars. The entrance includes a recessed doorway with a narrow fanlight and a panelled door.
