Description
19 and 20 South Street are two houses dating from around 1750, originally built as one but subdivided around 1900. The buildings are two storeys high with an irregular three-window front facing South Street. They feature a Welsh slate roof with an old rendered stack. The ground floor is made of Devonian limestone rubble, while the first floor is timber-framed and slate-hung, with a rendered front. The windows are recessed, including sash and Yorkshire sash types with glazing bars. The original entrance for No 20 has a cornice supported by console brackets, a plain surround, and a panelled door, while No 19 has a modern entrance. At the rear, there are architraved sash windows with side lights on the first floor.
