Description

This is an earlier 18th-century cottage that was altered in the early 19th century. It is a two-storey building with a single window range, plus an extension to the south that incorporates an older building fronting onto South Street. The roof is hipped and covered with Welsh slate, with a red brick stack. The north side of the building is constructed of roughcast limestone rubble with a timber-framed, jettied first floor, supported by a moulded bressumer. The south extension has limewashed brick walls with a weatherboarded first floor, and a coved cornice. The windows are a mix of 19th-century and modern casements, with three or four lights. There is an old boarded door at the north end of the building, featuring wrought iron hinges. A 17th-century boarded door is located on the South Street frontage, with wrought iron pegs and hinges. The interior includes 18th-century panelled cupboards, sections of muntin and plank partitions, ceiling beams, and a newel staircase.
