Description

The Hermitage is an early 19th-century house built behind, and incorporating part of, a separate kitchen block originally belonging to number 28 High Street. It is a two-story building with a hipped roof covered in Welsh slate. The ground floor is constructed of rendered limestone rubble, while the first floor is timber-framed and slate-hung. A plain eaves cornice and a string course run along the first floor level. The first floor has paired sash windows with glazing bars. A French window with side lights is located on the ground floor. The interior features chamfered ceiling beams and a portion of the dado on the ground floor. The 17th century or earlier kitchen block retains an old fireplace opening with an oak lintel and brick arches.
