Description

The Obelisk in memory of John Wills is a memorial erected in 1864. John Wills, originally from Totnes, was the first white man to cross the Australian continent in 1861. The obelisk is made of granite and stands on a rusticated base and pedestal, which features a marble inscription plaque. At the base of the obelisk, there is a marble roundel carved in low relief depicting a bust of Wills. The former bracketed Windsor lanterns have been removed.
