Description

An early 19th century pair of buildings, number 4 and number 6 Fore Street, designed in a classical style. The buildings are three storeys high, with number 4 having a modern gabled dormer. Each building has a single window. They have a Welsh slate roof. The facades are stuccoed, with fluted Ionic pilasters between the window bays extending through the first and second floors, supporting an entablature with a foliated scroll pattern in the frieze; the frieze has been removed from number 4. A parapet tops the buildings. The second floor has horizontal bands, and the band on number 4 includes rosette decoration. The windows are recessed, have architraves with decorative ears and console keys, and contain glazing bars. The original wooden shopfronts have console-bracketed cornices. Recessed, architraved doorways have rectangular fanlights above panelled doors.
