Description
The lookout tower, located on the cliffs at SX 707371, is a small structure believed to have been built as a lookout for Customs officers, probably in the 18th century. It features slatestone rubble walls and a pyramidal stone corbelled roof. The tower has a square plan and was likely designed with a room on each floor, both of which are very small.
The exterior stands two storeys tall, although the floor to the upstairs room has collapsed. The doorway on the north face has a rough stone voussoir arched lintel, and there is a similar window opening on the east side. A blocked opening is present on the west wall, while the south wall, which faces the sea, has a small window opening just below the roof. The interior has not been inspected and currently has no notable features.
