Description

This water conduit, located approximately 2.5 metres to the east of No. 1 in Dartmouth, is likely from the 16th century but was rebuilt in 1857, as noted in an inscription. The conduit is faced with local limestone on the north side and features coursed Bathstone ashlar. It faces north and has a square-headed alcove at ground level for the water pipe and drain, set within a wall of channelled rustication, although most of the channels have been cemented up. The design includes recessed curving corners with panels and end pilasters also of channelled rustication. A moulded cornice crowns the structure, which bears the inscription commemorating the 1857 rebuilding by the Fee-o-Fees of St Petrox.
