Description

This cider house dates to around the 17th century. It is built of stone rubble with a slate roof featuring gabled and half-hipped ends. The building is two storeys high. At the higher east end are barn doors sheltered by a slated hood. External stone stairs lead to a loft door located centrally. The doorway at the lower end has a chamfered cambered lintel. Two small wooden window frames from the 18th century, with cambered heads, are also present. There are ventilation slits in the walls. The cider house faces a farmyard, with its back to the road. Inside, the roof is supported by collar braced trusses. The interior also features large chamfered ceiling beams, a cider press with a granite trough, and stop-chamfered spine beams with run-out stops.
