Description

Buttville is a house built in 1820 for a retired admiral. It is a square, two-storey structure made of stucco that is lined and painted. The front features three first-floor sash windows with glazing bars and a central arched entrance. The entrance has an ornamental radial bar blank fanlight above a six-panel door. There is a verandah with a curved slate roof supported by a slender entablature beam and wood Doric columns, although some of the columns have been replaced. The house also has wide eaves soffits and a three-window garden return that includes the verandah.
