Description
Pindar Lodge is a largely rebuilt house dating from circa 1800. It is constructed of stucco, which is painted, and is two storeys high, with two windows on each floor. Each floor incorporates a splay bay. The sash windows now have centre glazing bars only. The roof is slate and hipped. The house is the birthplace of the 18th-century poet John Wolcot, who wrote under the pseudonym Peter Pindar, and is set back from the general street frontage. Pindar Lodge forms part of a group of buildings with Leighton House, the Conservative Club (Nos 1 to 4), and Nos 1 and 2 Victoria Place, occupying an important position.
