Description

The Ship and Plough Inn is likely from the mid-19th century. It is a three-story building rendered in stucco, with lined and painted detailing and a three-window front, plus one window on a splayed corner. The roof is slated and hipped, with a splayed section at the corner. A cornice runs along the eaves, and a band emphasizes the first floor. The windows are sash windows with glazing bars, and the upper windows have architraves. A chimney and one window are visible on the south-facing return. The Inn is situated in an important position at the entrance to town and forms a group with the Anchor Hotel on Fore Street.
