Description

The Anchor Hotel is a building from the early to mid-19th century, standing three stories tall. It features a stucco exterior that is lined and painted, with four sash windows and a three-light window on a rounded corner. The hotel has rusticated quoins, an eaves entablature, and a slate roof. The upper floor windows include glazing bars. The return face on Bridge Street is rather plain. The hotel occupies a significant position at the entrance to the town. The Anchor Hotel, along with Nos 7 to 51 (odd) and the Evangelical Church, forms a group, and it also groups with the Ship and Plough Inn and the promenade.
