Description

Mount Pleasant and Rose Cottage are a pair of cottages dating from the 17th century, with significant later modifications. They are built from rendered rubble or cob and feature a thatched roof. The cottages have a long frontage, with a possible cross-passage to the right of a central ridge stack and a small back wing at a lower level, which may contain a stair at the back of Mount Pleasant.

The buildings are two storeys high with scattered windows. On the ground floor, there is a flush 20th-century door next to a small two-light window, followed by a larger two-light window. There is also a plank door set in deep reveals, leading to a three-light window, another door, and three two-light casements. The first floor has two small two-light windows, then a three-light window, and a two-light window flanking a small single light. All the casements have horizontal bars. The left side of the building features a two-over-two light window. At the left end, a section of the building is narrower than the rest.

There is an eaves stack at the back of Mount Pleasant, a central ridge stack, and a gable stack to the right, both of which have been raised in brick. The interior of Mount Pleasant is not accessible, but Rose Cottage retains some remains of roof principals. The cottages are situated prominently on the edge of the village.
