Description

The Cottage is a house that dates from the early 18th century and 19th century, with some 20th-century alterations. It features stone rubble and cob walls, which are plastered at the front. The roof has a thatched gable end and a hipped scantle slate roof on the front addition. There are two gable end stacks, one made of brick at the left-hand end and another made of brick on a rubble base to the right.

The original layout consists of a two-room plan, with each room of similar size having a fireplace on the end wall, separated by a central passage. At the front of the right-hand end, there is a 19th-century wing that was originally separate from the main house but was likely connected in the 20th century.

The exterior is two storeys high with an asymmetrical one-window front, and the wing projects from the right-hand end. On the first floor, there is a 19th-century two-light casement window with small panes at the centre, above which is an Atlas firemark. Below this window is a 19th-century four-panel door with a flat hood above it. The wing features two small-paned two-light casements on the first floor, with a large late 20th-century casement window without glazing bars below to the right, and to its left is a 20th-century part-glazed door.

Inside, one 19th-century panel door remains on the ground floor, while the fireplaces have been modernized and the beams are encased. A 19th-century staircase blocks the passage.
