Description
The property is an early 19th century farmhouse, originally a manor house and the seat of a branch of the Coplestones family. It was rebuilt in the early 19th century, and no earlier features survive. The farmhouse is constructed of stone rubble with a roughcast front, and has a slate roof with gabled ends. It has a double-depth plan with two roof spans, and a three-bay front. It features sash windows with glazing bars, a central glazed door with a later 19th century gabled porch, and brick chimney stacks at the gable ends. The north-east gable end has a large external stone chimney stack. The rear (east) elevation includes three-light casements with glazing bars and a central flush panel door. Wings extend to the south, with a hipped roof over two spans. The interior is believed to contain early 19th century features such as a plaster cornice and recesses with moulded surrounds.
Adjoining the farmhouse to the south west is a circa early 19th century cartshed with a loft above. It is built of stone rubble with a slate roof and gabled ends. The cartshed has a segmental arch, and external stone stairs lead to the loft above. It is situated at a right angle to the front of the house, facing the farmyard, with its back to the road.
