Description

This building, originally an outbuilding or barn associated with Old Traine and West Cottage, is now a dwelling. It likely dates from the 17th century, but underwent significant alterations in the 19th and 20th centuries. The construction is of rubble, with slate hanging on the south front, and a slate roof with a hipped return at a slightly higher level, connecting to The Pound House.

The north front, which serves as the entrance, has one and a half storeys and three small raking dormers above single-light and two-light casement windows. A six-panel door is set within a pilaster surround, sheltered by a gabled porch supported by decorative 19th-century columns, although this porch was inserted in the late 20th century. The return to the right features a large stack and a series of pigeon openings in the gable. The south front has five 20th-century two-light gabled dormers above two- or three-light casement windows, with a central door set under a glazed conservatory. All windows are small-pane casements. A small stack is located on the hip slope to the right.

The interior has not been inspected. The building is included on the list primarily for its contribution to the surrounding group of buildings and as an enclosure to the cobbled courtyard.
