Description

The Mair gravestone, located approximately 1 metre south of the south side of the chancel of the Church of St Hieritha, is a headstone dating from 1821. It was made by Manning of Chittlehamholt and is crafted from slate. The gravestone features a shaped head and includes an inscription dedicated to John Mair, who died in 1821, with a verse around the head that reads, "Be ye also ready for in such an hour he knoweth not when the Son of Man Cometh." Below this, there is an inscription for his wife, who passed away in 1803.
