Description

The Lewis gravestone, located approximately 4 metres east of the chancel of the Church of St Hieritha, dates from 1835. This twin headstone is made of slate and features a straight head. It is adorned with twin incised segmental arches and an inscription around the top that reads, "See a Fresh monument of the Fertility of Nature and the End of Time." The gravestone commemorates John Lewis, who died in 1835, on the right side, and Elizabeth Lewis, who died in 1840, on the left side, with a verse below each inscription.
